Mayor's courtship of Latino voters proves significant

...There's evidence that Bloomberg's courtship of Dominican and Central American voters -- intended to offset the landslide for Ferrer predicted among Puerto Ricans -- worked in some areas for the mayor. In Washington Heights, 29 percent voted for Bloomberg -- compared with 20 percent in a largely Puerto Rican district in East Harlem that even Bloomberg aides conceded was Ferrer territory. But some Queens neighborhoods with large populations of Central American immigrants, including Corona and Jackson Heights, went for Bloomberg....
